All sorts of Miners could be found all over Australia when the gold and gemstone rush was on, either on the banks of a billabong or in the middle of nowhere, panning madly away for the nugget or Opal that would make them rich. Most of them never succeeded and lived a miserable existance only to die poor, while a few made it rich and lived to talk about it. It was Mining Fever at it's best.

This Mining Scene features a Solid Bronze Squatting Miner that is panning for Opal. With him are his swag, bag, pot, cup, pick and bucket that have been hand created from wax using the Age Old method of Lost Wax Casting. In his bucket and in his pan are real chips of Opal from the Australian Opal fields and the colours that sparkle from them is unreal.

The Red Kangaroo is not only Iconic to Australia but is Australia's largest Kangaroo and can grow up to 7-8 feet tall. They carry their Joey (baby Kangaroo) in their pouch until it is old enough to survive by itself. They are found most places across Australia from the outback to the greener pastures nearer the sea.

This Kangaroo is mounted on a really nicely patterned piece of Australian Boulder Opal to make her look like she is searching for food atop a boulder and features a really detailed head of her Joey in her pouch.

As with all of my creations they have been antique finished and require the minimal amount of cleaning, i.e a paint brush is ideal to keeping them looking awsome.

"Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry merry king of the bush is he, laugh Kookaburra, laugh Kookaburra"

We all remember from days gone by sitting around the campfire singing this little song.

The Laughing Kookaburra is instantly recognizable in both plumage and voice as it always seems to be laughing at you. Regardless of what you are doing, he will sit on his perch and just laugh, whether or not its at you or not is another matter. Regardless just his sound is sure to bring a smile to the lips. This large member of the Kingfisher family measures 40 - 45 cm in length and is found mainly in Eastern Australia and they tend to mate for life.

This little fella looks delightful sitting on his perch on a natural piece of Australian Boulder Opal from Queensland. He looks like he is sitting near a small puddle or stream that is represented by an awesome layer of blue Opal that speckle out purple flashes.

Spiny but cute is the only way to describe this little man sitting atop his piece of rock observing the world at large. The piece of Boulder Opal has some wonderful colours and lines in varying shades of brown.

The Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), with it's duck bill and webbed feet, is a unique Native Australian Animal. It and the two species of Echidna are the only monotremes or egg-laying Mammals to be found on Earth. Their back claws are known to be poisonous and can kill a grown man so be it cute, they are not something to be playing with.

This cute little Platypus looks awesome sitting on this piece of Temora Greenstone. It makes him look like he is swimming down a stream that is green and brown, much like most of the rivers of Australia. And as with the rest of my items, he has been finished with an antique finish so all he needs is a dust with a dry paint brush.

In Australia the Pelican is widespread on freshwater, estuarines, marine wetlands and waterways including lakes, swamps, rivers, coastal islands and shores. They have large pouches under their beaks that enable them to catch and swallow fish whole. Can be quite savage if they are fighting you for your fish and chips.

This cute Pelican looks adorable on this piece of Mookaite that has some wonderful colours of pinks and browny greys featuring through the stone. This would make a wonderful edition to someone that has a collection of Pelicans.

The Green Sea Turltle is found in Australian Waters and consume sea grass and other marine plants. They lay there eggs in the same place they were born every year. They range in size from 45 to 120 cm in size. Their average amount of eggs layed is around 100 but as law of nature dictates, only a fraction will hatch and make it to the water safely.

The little Green Sea Turtle here looks cool on this piece of Natural Australian Boulder Opal from Queensland that has some wonderful lines running through the stone that are shades of brown. Makes him look like he is swimming the slip stream or current of a river.

Foal Dimensions: 6.3 cm from end of front leg to end of tail x 1.8 cm wide x 2.5 cm high

Overall Weight 169.1 grams

The Brumby Horse was introduced into NSW in 1788 from Europe as a form of farm horse and racing horse. Released into the bush when they were no longer needed, this breed of horse has flourished ever since, sometimes over populating areas where they strip the feed and wreck the natural habitat that was there for the Native Animals. Careful planning has helped in recent years and the numbers are kept under control. Either way, they are still a nice looking horse.

Mounted on a gorgeous slice of Queensland Thunder Egg, this foal looks like he is ready to take his first step on his newly found legs. The Thunder Egg has some wonderful colours of green and browny pink throughout the stone.
